Our Camping Program provides our students with opportunities to:
- Extend their intellectual and social development in an outside school environment
- Experience socialisation, group co-operation and independence
- Take part in challenging activities that require decision-making and self-reflection on consequences for both themselves and others
- Develop personal qualities such as resourcefulness, resilience, leadership, tolerance and determination.
When do the camps take place?
- Camps are conducted for students in Years 3 to 6
- In recent years we have been to the DOXA City Camp, which is run from the heart of Melbourne CBD on the land of the Wurundjeri people. Activities are many and varied ranging from The Big Issue Classroom (a workshop on homelessness), to street art tours, restaurant experiences and visits to major landmarks and;
- The DOXA camp in Malmsbury, which is located in central Victoria on the land of the Dja Dja Wurrung people. It provides the opportunity for students from urban and metropolitan areas with the chance to experience the Australian bush.
- Students also visit Cottage by the Sea in Queenscliff on alternate years.
