Whittington Primary School was established in the 1970’s on a large site in Solar Drive in Whittington. The original school building was demolished in late 2017, with a full rebuild recently completed.
Our brand new, state of the art modern, flexible teaching and learning spaces, an art room, music room, half-sized gym, administration facilities and a central landscaped courtyard. The new facilities also boast new furniture, technology and a range of other school resources to support student learning. Future plans to extend the gym to a full competition size basketball court will further enhance the facilities.
The grounds are well developed with several large playing areas, including a synthetic turf oval and running track, two playgrounds, netball and basketball courts, a gaga pit, cubby house, maze, several sandpits and a vegetable garden. We also have a beautifully landscaped, relaxing, passive play space.
Our comprehensive curriculum emphasises the development of literacy and numeracy skills. Mathematics, Reading and Writing are taught as separate subjects, while other curriculum components are incorporated into the integrated aspects of the learning program. Technologies are integrated into classroom activities, with touch screen desktops, laptops and iPads provided by the school and used in all classroom across the school.
Whittington P.S employs specialist teachers to provide other learning programs in Health & Physical Education, STEM, Visual Arts and Auslan. Other opportunities in the Performing Arts also complement our high quality teaching and learning program.
Whittington Primary School is a Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden school. Our Kitchen Garden Classroom Program promotes pleasurable food education and teaches our children to grow, harvest, prepare and share fresh, seasonal, delicious food in order to form positive food habits for life.
